It's college graduation season, and that means students will be heading off with lofty ideas about changing the world, making a difference or hitting it big in business. But what institutions actually lead the way in churning out the most future Einsteins and Edisons?MIT? Princeton? Yale? Which college or university comes out on top?The Equality of Opportunity Project recently released its latest study about race and opportunity in the U.S., including a focus on who leads innovation in the country and what makes children most likely to be inventors. Perhaps not surprisingly, those from wealthy, educated backgrounds have a far greater chance of "Eureka!"The study included U.S. citizens born from 1980 and 1984 who attended college between the ages of 19 and 22. Researchers then identified who from that group was listed on patent applications filed from 2001 to 2012 or patent grant applications from 1996 to 2014.In total, the study reported inventor data for 423 colleges and universities. Here are the top 50:A note about the data: The inventor rate, represented as a percentage. is calculated by dividing the number of inventors by the total number of graduates in their class. Colleges with less than 10 inventors were omitted from the study. Read more about the study here.
